Fr. John Dudek
Fr. John Dudek was assigned to the Church of the Divine Child as an associate pastor in July 2021. Prior to his assignment at Divine Child, Fr. John attended the Pope St. John XXIII National Seminary in Weston, MA for his Theological Studies and formation. He was ordained as a priest for the Archdiocese of Detroit on Saturday, May 15, 2021.
Born and raised in Detroit, Fr. John has a rather unorthodox vocation story. He entered Sacred Heart Seminary in the Fall of 1984, where he studied for two years before leaving to pursue a 26-year career as a middle school and high school special education teacher. During that time, he was married for 20 years, and had two daughters.
After receiving an annulment, and with the encouragement of his pastor and spiritual director - the support of his daughters and friends - he applied to be a seminarian for the Archdiocese of Detroit (AOD) and was accepted after a 30-year gap.
Fr. John says, "I know that God will use my talents, knowledge, and experiences as a teacher, former husband, and parent to evangelize His infinite Love for the parishioners of DC. Please keep Fr. Bob, Fr. David and me in your prayers as we begin our ministerial journey together."
In his spare time, Fr. John enjoys running, golf, horseback riding and downhill skiing.
